Fox News anchor Shep Smith mocked Vice President Mike Pence's announcement of the U.S. Space Force on Thursday. President Donald Trump had repeatedly floated the idea in public before Pence's statement.

“There will be no Millennium Falcon, no Jedis or Wookiees we are sad to report,” Smith said. “But if the White House gets its way, in this special case, there will be a Space Force.”

Pence announced the new branch with a disturbing bit of imperialism.

“As President Trump has said, in his words, it is not enough to merely have an American presence in space — we must have American dominance in space," Pence said. "And so we will.'

Smith wasn't impressed at all.
